Troubleshooting Camera & Microphone Access on Android Devices

On Android, Chrome settings and Android app permissions must allow temporary camera and microphone access for Vocal Video.

If you get an error message that your camera and/or microphone can’t be accessed, first check your browser permissions, and then if necessary check your Android settings.

If you opened the recording link from an email, messaging, or social media app, open it directly in Chrome instead. Some in-app browsers may not support camera and microphone access correctly.

Check your browser permissions

Chrome

  1. Tap the Site Settings, lock, camera, or microphone icon next to the address bar.
  2. Open:

    Site settings

  3. Make sure:
    • CameraAllow
    • MicrophoneAllow

Then refresh the page and try again.

If camera or microphone access still isn’t working:

Check Android settings

  1. Open the Android Settings app
  2. Go to:

    Apps

  3. Select:

    Chrome

  4. Tap:

    Permissions

  5. Make sure:
    • Camera is enabled
    • Microphone is enabled

Return to your Vocal Video recording page and refresh the page before trying again.

Additional notes

If permissions look correct, restart your device and then reopen the recording link in Chrome.

Camera or microphone access may also be restricted by:

  • privacy controls
  • workplace or school device management
  • battery optimization settings
