How to Record a Great Video

You've been asked to record with Vocal Video, not because you’re a professional actor, but because you have a great story to share. The best videos are authentic and genuine.

Set Up Your Space
  • Natural light is best. Make sure it isn’t either directly in front of or behind you.
  • Check over your shoulder. An uncluttered background will look better on video.
  • Find a quiet spot. No one minds a kid cameo or a pet meandering by, but try to make sure you have a quiet place with limited distractions.
  • Have a seat. A seated response is best, and make sure your phone has a steady spot, too, if you are recording on a mobile device.
  • Think about your camera angle. A stack of books can work great to get you at eye level with the camera on your laptop.
Recording
  • You will get to read each question before your record.
  • Make eye contact with the camera, and don’t forget to smile!
  • Try to answer the prompt with a direct and concise answer.
  • Watch your recording when it's done to check audio and video. You can do as many takes as you'd like!
Finishing up
  • Make sure you answer each question and get to the last step where you have to fill in your name and email or your submission is not complete!
