Troubleshooting Camera & Microphone Access on iPhone or iPad

On iPhone and iPad, both your browser and iOS settings must allow temporary camera and microphone access for Vocal Video.

If you get an error message that your camera and/or microphone can’t be accessed, first check your browser permissions, and then if necessary check your iPhone/iPad settings.

If you opened the recording link from an email, messaging app, or social media app, open the link directly in Safari or Chrome instead. Some in-app browsers may not support camera and microphone access correctly.

Check your browser permissions

Safari

  1. Tap the Website Settings menu in the address bar (this may appear as the AA button or another icon, depending on your device and iOS version).
  2. Go to Website Settings
  3. Make sure:
    • CameraAllow or Ask
    • MicrophoneAllow or Ask
  4. Refresh the page and try again

Chrome

Chrome on iPhone and iPad uses your device’s iOS permission settings for camera and microphone access.

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and tap Chrome. On some iOS versions, you may need to tap Apps first.
  3. Make sure Camera and Microphone are turned on

If camera or microphone access still isn’t working:

Check iPhone or iPad settings

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Go to:

    Privacy & Security

  3. Select:
    • Camera
    • Microphone
  4. Make sure your browser is enabled for both

Return to your Vocal Video recording page and refresh the page before trying again.
